The Things They Make Me Do!!

I love my humans, really I do, but there are some days when they try my patience.  This is what I get for having creative creatures.

They have been working on the new ornaments and gone a little overboard in my not-so-humble opinion.  I am a pretty dignified dog after all and not at all used to being used as a prop. (even though I am pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself)

At least this isn't as bad as the day I had to pose in the Santa hat!

“The Art of Clean Up”

I don't have OCD.....but the photographer and the artist both show OCD tenancies.  (OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

Not only are these pictures art, but this is the kind of thing that would appeal to my human's sense of order. They tend to play with whatever is left on the table after eating and straightening things seem to be a favorite pastime.  If I can figure out how to get images off of the phone, I'll post some pictures of their "artistic endeavors".

But for now, follow this link...

This stuff totally rocks and even though it is in a language I can't understand, you don't need a translator to enjoy the pictures and appreciate what may be a slight case of OCD.

Gringos need not apply....

....unless you are looking for an epicurean adventure!

Go here...

Do this...
Candied Jalapenos (Cowboy Candy)

And report back at the total ecstasy that your taste buds have experienced!

Now I will be the first to admit that my tongue is a bit shy when it comes to really spicy food, but these look delish AND it appears that the recipe can be somewhat modified to accommodate a, shall we say,  less experienced palate.

All I can think of is what a delicious bit of sunshine to be able to open up on a cold winter's day and wallow in the warmth.  It is enough to make a tail wag.

Really?!

Did I miss something?

Or should I say, am I missing something?

Perhaps I should get plastic surgery and change my "profile" a little. Or maybe not.

Where were you when the earth moved?

I gotta tell ya, I wasn't all that disturbed by yesterday's earthquake. I thought dogs were suppose to be sensitive to these kinds of things, but I didn't notice. In fact, if the artist and the photographer hadn't been talking about it, I wouldn't have known it even happened.

Picture this:
We are in the second story of a really old three story building that was built in 1885 and snuggles into the side of a hill. The artist is sitting at her computer and the photographer is sitting at his computer. They are side by side, each engrossed in their respective projects when the artist looks up and says "Are we moving?"

The photographer looks over at her and says "Well, I guess we are. It must be an earthquake."

They went back to work, and three minutes later the radio announced that an earthquake had hit the east coast. That was it...no big deal.

I think it should have been a big deal. In fact, I think we should have celebrated Mother Nature giving us a (gentle) nudge and we survived.

Make a note, living through an earthquake, any earthquake, is a reason to celebrate life! In fact, I think a round of treats were in order. Make mine a big ole' juicy bone.

Mowing the Mountain

To hear her talk (whine really) you would think she lived on top of a mountain. She does not live on a mountain, or even a hill, it is really just a slope. Mind you it is a fairly steep slope that is along the front and all-l-l-l-l-l-l one side of the house, but it ain't no mountain.

She doesn't have a 'front yard' and a 'back yard' like most people (if you hadn't noticed by now, the artist isn't like most people). It is more like an up-yard, a steep-yard and an out-yard. The up-yard is the space right around the house, fairly small and flat. The steep-yard speaks for itself, and the out-yard is the four foot wide space between the sidewalk and the curb, also fairly flat.

The artist was complaining about how hard it was to mow the yard and how by the time she finished with the up-yard and the out-yard, she was too tired to do the steep-yard. Oh you poor dear!

Did it ever occur to you to do the hard part first? No? Well the yard is like any other problem, if you do the hard part first, by the time you are tired, you only have the easy part left.

Start with the most difficult part of the steep-yard, mow a little, then for a diversion and something a little easier, mow a some of the out-yard. When you are finished with those, and only then, start on the up-yard. Rest if you have to then get your butt back in gear and get it finished. If you don't get it all done in one day, that's okay as long as you don't give up on the plan.

And just a note to those of you with problems (and you know who you are): Problems are like weeds. You can cut them short so they blend in with the grass, but you aren't fooling anybody, they are still weeds no matter how green they may appear.

Buddy
